Nebula Provision - ARMS

Our Nebula Provision caters for children with ASD and moderate or severe learning needs. Each child within Nebula is set individual targets to help achieve progress with their academic, social communication and interaction, language, physical skills while develop increasing independence.

We offer three different pathways in our Nebula Provision: Formal (Sunshine Room), Semi-Formal (Haumea Room) and Informal / 'Engagement Model' (Namaka Room). Pathways are fluid and some pupils may access some curriculum areas across different pathways where appropriate.

Pupils in the Formal Pathway (Sunshine Room) have access to the National Curriculum (adapted) through structured subject-based lessons including Reading / Phonics, writing and maths and children are expected to spend some of their other lessons in their mainstream classes.

Pupils in the Semi-Formal Pathway (Haumea Room) focusing on early learning concepts through shorter subject-based learning activities and themed exploration. Children are expected to begin participating in their mainstream classes for short periods of time.

Pupils in the Informal Pathway (Engagement Model) focus on engagement, communication and sensory exploration. Core texts are chosen for their repetitive language, sensory appeal, and opportunities for shared attention and interaction.

Themes are shared across the Semi-Formal and Informal pathways, differentiated by core texts, curriculum focus, learning outcomes and key vocabulary. Core texts represent diverse authors and inclusive perspectives.
