RE Autumn 1 – Learning Highlights


This term, pupils across the school explored important themes from different religions, including community, responsibility, kindness and the meaning of good choices. Each year group engaged in stories, celebrations and reflections that helped them understand how people of different faiths live, worship and care for one another.

 

Year Group Highlights


Year 1 – Hinduism


Children learned about the Diwali story of Rama and Sita, exploring ideas of good and evil and how Hindus celebrate the Festival of Light.

 

Year 2 – Humanism & Christianity


Pupils learned how and why we remember important people, including Christian figures and key individuals recognised by Humanists.

Year 3 – Buddhism


Year 3 explored Buddha’s teachings on happiness and contentment and tried simple meditation to understand calm reflection.

Year 4 – Judaism


Children learned about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, reflecting on forgiveness, saying sorry and making a fresh start.

Year 5 – Buddhism & Jainism


Pupils explored how actions have consequences and discussed responsibility through role-play and real-life examples.

Year 6 – Islam


Year 6 examined how Muslims build a sense of community through the mosque, prayer and pilgrimage, thinking about what belonging means.
